Round here — SG19
SG19 — Sandy, Potton, Gamlingay and the ridge villages
Sandy and Potton sit on light, gritty ground, and the lanes climbing up towards Everton and Waresley carry a lot of loose stone onto the tarmac. It gets into tread and works its way in over weeks.
The fast road through Sandy is a different problem again — high speeds, hard shoulders that aren't really shoulders, and no good place to change a wheel.
What we get called out for round here
- Grit and sharp stone worked into the tread on the climbs round Everton and Sandy Heath
- Tyre failures on the fast trunk road near Sandy and Tempsford with nowhere proper to pull in
- Village-street kerbing in Potton and Gamlingay where the road pinches past parked cars
- Flats found at Sandy Station or at RSPB The Lodge after a day out of the car
