Hazard lights, a strip of rubber, and a hard shoulder you would rather not occupy. That is a roadside job, not a lecture about driving to a garage. We find you from a junction number or a landmark — J9, J10, the Nickey Line car park, the roundabout into Southdown — make the car safe to work on, and put a proper tyre on so you are not waiting for a transporter you did not need.

- Pin a junction, a pub, or the station — we use what you can actually see
- Night attendance as well as the school-run window, when the situation is genuine
- We will not ask you to crawl on a shredded tyre ‘just to reach a unit’
- If the rim is bent we say so rather than hanging new rubber on junk

Should I stay in the car?
On a fast stretch of the M1, get behind the barrier if there is one. On a quiet Harpenden side street, staying with the vehicle is usually fine. Tell us which it is so we are not guessing.
What if you cannot change it where I am?
A live lane, a height barrier, or a smashed wheel: we recover instead. You hear that choice before we start the wrong job.
