A replacement tyre fitted on a Harpenden drive
Most houses on this patch keep two cars and a morning that starts on the M1. If a sidewall has given up, you do not need to limp into a fitting bay in Luton. We roll the van to the drive in Harpenden, Batford or Southdown, confirm the size, and put a new tyre on where the car already sits.

- Common AL5 and AL3 sizes carried so a weekday job does not wait on a depot run
- Make, model and year are enough if the wall is unreadable — we confirm before fitting
- Valve replaced with a full tyre; wheels tightened to the stated torque
- Axle pairs when mixing a new tyre with a bald partner would be a bad idea
Questions we get
I cannot read the size on the wall. Can you still come?
Yes. Do not kneel in the road to squint at it. Send the car, the year, and a photo of a matching tyre if you have one. We propose a size and wait for your nod before we leave.
Can you do a pair while you are here?
Often. If the other tyre on that axle is close to the wear bars we will say so. Two on an axle is usually the grown-up choice.
Is this only Harpenden itself?
