Round here — LU7

LU7 — Leighton Buzzard, Linslade and the Ivinghoe villages

LU7 is one of the biggest districts on our list and one of the most rural. Leighton Buzzard and Linslade in the middle, then villages scattered in every direction — Stewkley, Soulbury, Cublington, Mentmore, and a dozen more with a single lane in and out.

It's a fair drive from Harpenden and we won't pretend otherwise, but the trouble out here is genuine: narrow roads, no lighting and nowhere to leave a car standing.

What we get called out for round here

  • Sidewalls torn on the steep, rutted lanes up towards Ivinghoe Beacon
  • Punctures in the canal-side parking at Linslade and in Rushmere Country Park
  • Hedge-cutting thorns through the tread on the lanes near Stewkley and Cublington
  • A flat on a village lane at night with no lighting and no verge to speak of
