Round here — SG4

SG4 — Codicote, Kimpton, Whitwell and the lane country

Kimpton, Whitwell and Codicote are close to home for us — a straight run out of Harpenden and we're there. That's lucky, because these are exactly the roads that eat tyres.

Sunken edges, flint, a hedge trimmer through every hedge in September, and mud pulled out onto the tarmac from October. It's beautiful driving and it's hard on rubber.

What we get called out for round here

  • Blackthorn and flint through the tread on the lanes round King's Walden and Ley Green
  • Wheels dropped off a crumbling edge between Whitwell and Breachwood Green
  • Punctures after a wet week when mud and stone have been pulled onto the road near Preston
  • Kerbing in the narrow parking through Codicote village
